A New Cook in the Kitchen
Lets talk about.....These appliances. I fell instantly in love when I saw just the stove in a This Old House mag spread. I just knew the rest of the line would be great. Probably the speed at which I lunged for my computer to check it out was probably more appropriate for a house fire. But I have no shame about that.
Here are my thoughts:
Sometimes, especially in small spaces, stainless steel can be uber chunky and disruptive. I transcribed my contemplations earlier. Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of its industrial pro chef kitchen appeal. And in small doses it can be gorgeous:
But it can be overwhelming if you are just a sweet casual kitchen that isn't interested in all that pizzazz. This article says it all. And now, how very exciting, there are some white options emerging for the stylish yet non-hipster kitchen owner (I'm looking at you, smeg).
Like this line from Whirlpool is fine I guess. The handles are the most enormous bows... but they do a good job in context:
Certainly clean, sparkling and you might even notice the architecture first if there was any. But the GE artistry line just has that extra oopmh. Perhaps its the dash of nostalgia.
I actually hate the kitchen they put the line in for their promo photos; why put these bright white guys in a cream kitchen? why?! And the backsplash... whaaaat is that even? So I am not going to show you that. Just look at this range again and enjoy, ok?
I predict it is going replace the Cafe series as the go-to choice for the design conscientious appliance picker. The Cafe series is an excellent stainless choice because those handles make it look like an attainable Wolf.
1. When it gets down to kitchen remodeling time for us, I will experience a crisis of conscience. Do I replace our totally suitable (and free) white range for this one? The artistry series was created specifically for a 1920's craftsmen remodel I am pretty sure.
2. There must be someone else in the world who I can gossip to about appliances and will understand. There must be someone would would high five me over my smeg joke. Right? Or... maybe a support group.
