I finished our living room throw pillows! Yay! This may not seem like a big accomplishment, but it totally is for me. I bought the fabric back in september, after probably too much planning, and hauled it in my suitcase all the way from Minneapolis! And, let me tell you, when you have lived in an all white apartment for a few weeks your eyes are seriously thirsty for some color. As you saw in my mood board, I went with a nautical stripe to balance out the floral curtains (not up yet because we don't have curtain rods...) and a pop of coral to warm it up. I also imagine these blues to be staples in the room and the accent color to switch out according to the season and my ever-changing whims. But for now, I am satisfied. Phew.
Before sewing up the final side of the stripeys, I was struck with the need to add something more... Buttons. So I resisted the urge to just get 'em done and went to the fabric store to pick out some nautical buttons. 4 buttons for each pillow, for a total of 12 dollars. Not too bad a price to really elevate the look of an already cheap project.
Boyfriend likes the looks of tactile details like lace, flowers or ruffles, and I had to agree that it was necessary to break up the flat cotton surfaces. So I crafted this super easy and super cute felt flower. It was so satisfying that I got a little carried away and made 2 more that I need to find a place for.
While I am at it, I would like to mention our amazing coffee table. We got it our first night in Seattle a few minutes before Goodwill closed for, wait for it.... 6$! Seriously people, it was the best impulse purchase ever. I love it. And it has perfect architectural details that match a salvaged tile I got at Art and Architecture.
Tis all for now, but stay tuned as keep filling in the blanks in our blank space. Next to tackle? Those darn curtains.
